Department of Oncology, Old Road Campus Research Building, Headington, Oxford OX3 7DQ About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to join the Department of Oncology.

This newly created position offers the opportunity to enhance internal and external communications within the Department.

You will bring extensive experience across digital and social media communications to drive innovation and excellence in communication and engagement.

You will be an important connection through the department, working on initiatives to foster equity, diversity and inclusion, boosting student and staff engagement in various projects and programmes.

We are looking for someone who is a natural connector and networker, comfortable engaging with stakeholders across different levels of seniority and professional backgrounds.

You should have outstanding communication skills and a curious mind, be able to seek out knowledge and have a talent for distilling complex information in an exciting and compelling manner.

The successful candidate will be bustling with good ideas for effective engagement and communications with our audiences and will be organised and meticulous in executing these ideas.

You should be a self-starter, with lots of initiative and comfortable working collaboratively with others in a fast-moving and demanding environment.

This is a full-time and permanent post based at the Department of Oncology, Old Road Campus Research Building, Oxford OX3 7DQ.

This role also offers the opportunity for some hybrid working.

About you You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience.

You will have experience of producing effective digital content, working with content management systems and liaising with web developers and IT support.

You will have extensive communications experience in print, digital and social media.

You will have excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to tailor content for different media and audiences.

You will also have excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and the ability to inspire the confidence of colleagues across the department.

Ability to work independently in a complex environment, taking initiative when necessary and prioritising effectively to meet deadlines is essential.

Professional qualification in marketing, public relations or similar areas and experience working in higher education or medical research will be advantageous.
