The role will form part of the Compliance Team who report into the Head of Compliance.

The team are responsible for the day to day delivery of high profile compliance and risk management projects, duties and assignments and providing sound technical compliance advice to all levels of the business but in particular supporting senior management with new operational initiatives in new markets.

The role also involves the delivery of BAU compliance/risk management routine work in accordance with the annual compliance and control monitoring programme which aims to identify and mitigate against compliance risks, through thorough analysis, risk-based monitoring and oversight, engagement, and partnership with colleagues across the group.

What do we need you to do?

  • Support and enable business functions to manage their operational and compliance risk under the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process, and ensure that risks and controls are assessed accurately, objectively, and independently.
  • Implementation of assurance risk management processes for the operational functions.
  • Use business intelligence/insights to track and seek to understand any potential emerging risks.
  • Carry out thematic/risk-based compliance reviews as required under the Compliance and Control Monitoring Plan.
  • Write regular and routine compliance and risk management reports for various audiences and levels of the business.
  • Develop new policies and maintain existing policies, ensuring they are updated in accordance with current legislation and are in line with MPG’s risk management and business appetite.
  • Conduct monthly compliance and risk management processes, including horizon risk scanning, financial crime investigations, data protection oversight, incidents and issues management, and project work, and provide clear and concise reporting on each area.
  • Assist relevant business areas with investigations of incidents or issues.
  • Process internal suspicious activity reports in accordance with MPG’s anti-money laundering and financial crime procedures.
  • Identify, communicate, and monitor potential emerging risks to the business and our customers, and translate these into meaningful activities for operational benefit.
  • Work very closely and collaborate with first line management, leaders, and decision makers on projects, to drive positive change and creation of compliance and risk aware culture.

What skills and experience do we need you to have?

  • Experience writing and implementing policies and procedures in line with FCA regulations.
  • Subject matter expertise of FCA regulation is essential (3+ Years).
  • Experience in undertaking compliance reviews, assessments and presenting recommendations to senior management.
  • Conducting research, writing articles on compliance specific issues to update teams internally.
  • Keeping up to date with current regulatory developments and informing teams internally in a digestible and actionable manner.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Financial Services, with experience of reviewing and approving marketing materials and financial promotions for an FCA regulated business (within consumer financial services).
  • Ability to maintain compliance while offering guidance on options, alternatives, and creative ways to reframe marketing copy and designs.
  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and optimising compliance workflows while balancing speed, efficiency, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with the appetite to do things differently and embed new ways of working whilst maintaining documented decision making and audit trails.
  • An excellent communicator capable of driving strong cross-functional collaboration and effective management of senior stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, with the ability to project manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Draft, update and review compliance policies in line with regulatory requirements.
