Summary:

Medlock Partners are delighted to be partnering our client, a successful Manufacturing division of a dynamic and highly acquisitive Group based in the Lancashire area as they look to appoint an experienced Finance Director or Senior Financial Controller as part of a recent restructure.

Reporting directly into the Managing Director and managing a small finance function, the Finance Director will take full responsibility for the financial performance for this site, implementing robust financial controls and supporting the Managing Director with strategic initiatives.

Working closely with the wider Senior Management Team, you will advise, analyse and report on key business indicators, measures and financial information, using a variety of management tools to support decision making and ensure strong governance and control of the business.

Responsibilities:

- Lead the finance team in all financial matters, providing leadership, guidance, and support as necessary.

- Work closely with the MD to help formulate Divisional plans and then take ownership and lead where necessary to support the Division in delivery of its’ targets.

- Preparation of the Divisional results, then reviewing and analysing the financial statements for accuracy and meaning.

- Provision of commercial analysis that helps the MD focus on the areas of the business that need attention or identifying areas of performance that could be exploited.

- Manage the key stakeholders across R&G and Diploma.

- Lead the completion of the annual audit and liaising with auditors where applicable.

- Translate the Group timeline for the annual budget and strategic plan into a meaningful plan for the Division, then lead the team to completion.

- Take ownership of the financial performance of the Division, identifying key issues ahead of time, communicating that to the MD.

- Development and improvement of financial processes where applicable.

- Identify and drive growth initiatives, tracking and reporting progress against them, supporting delivery of the Divisional targets.

- Ability to take on project tasks as and when required, such as the integration of new entities into the Division, whether from a process or system perspective.

- Development of monthly reporting pack and KPIs to improve the visibility of financial and non-financial information, to strengthen decision making.

Requirements:

- A proven track record of working at Director level with a strong business partnering element.

- Demonstrate experience of working with multiple entities within a Group reporting context.

- A proven leader and communicator across Finance and Non-Finance personnel.

- A qualified accountant with at least 5 yrs PQE in a similar industry.

- Experience of working within an SME and a stock-based background is important.

- The role is co-located with the business and will have a strong business partnering aspect to the role.

- Experience of dealing with strong personalities and leading non finance professionals through a period of growth / change.

- Ability to meet strict month-end deadlines to meet requirements of FTSE100 Parent Company.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and technically competent Senior Finance professional, with a proven track record of driving results within a SME business or subsidiary of a larger group.

You will have operated in a similar working environment, with extensive stakeholder management exposure and have previous experience of improving information flow, visibility and communication across a business.

Due to the multiple trading entities within the division, there is also an occasional requirement to travel to the business locations to build relationships, communicate and support delivery of the strategy.
