We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Head of Planned Works who will lead on the development of the project management capabilities across the company and BD Group. Duties:

The Head of Major Works will lead a dedicated team of Project Managers and Service Delivery Managers, along with contractors and suppliers with around 6 direct reports delivering comprehensive programmes of work, providing them with guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects. This pivotal role will direct the strategy and execution of professional construction project management across a diverse portfolio of contracts, ranging from approximately £15m to £30m, and individual projects up to £10m.  

 

The role will involve developing new solutions, managing a programme of major work, leading supply chain management, and maintaining excellent client relationships. The Head of Planned Works will ensure operations are well organised and delivered professionally, managing communications with clients, stakeholders, and customers. Staying aware of sector best practices and adopt our company’s positive culture for health safety and wellbeing (HSW) management.

 

In terms of leadership, the role holder will provide strategic leadership and management of the major works and construction project teams. In terms of performance management, implementing the company’s robust approach to performance management and encourage teams and individuals to achieve targets. In terms of policy and procedure, the role holder will be expected to develop and deliver excellent working practices and design and develop the project management framework. 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Building related field.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in building related subject.
  • Professional qualification and experience in project management related field, ideally within a QS related background.
  • IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent.
  • Project Management Qualification.
  • Membership of a professionally recognised construction industry body. i.e. RICS, CIOB.
  • Direct experience of managing the operational delivery of a programme of works in region of £15m per annum, including management of resources, work planning, customer engagement, quality assurance, to time and within budget.
  • Proven track record of leading project management teams. 
  • Proven track record of working at a senior managerial / leadership level within a construction or R&M contractor commercial environment.
  • Experience of managing projects within a highly commercialised environment.
  • Experience of developing new solutions and delivery models to improve efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality and customer experience.
  • Proven track record of full supply chain management within a commercial project management environment.
  • Experience of representing a company as a senior contract manager / leadership representative.

 

Working Arrangements:

  • Full Time, Permanent (36 hours per week) Monday to Friday
  • Hybrid working options available in line with business needs.
  • Location: Dagenham.
