As a highway inspector, you will play a vital role in assessing the condition of our road network. You will be responsible for conducting inspections, identifying any defects or hazards, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This role involves extensive walking, as you will cover significant distances each day to thoroughly inspect designated areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of roadways, footpaths, and related infrastructure.
  • Identify and assess defects such as potholes, cracks, and signs of wear and tear.
  • Document findings accurately and promptly using digital tools and reporting systems.
  • Liaise with other team members and stakeholders to prioritise and address maintenance needs.
  • Monitor ongoing works to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Respond to public inquiries and complaints regarding road conditions in a professional manner.
  • Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the highways or civil engineering sector.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to walk long distances per day, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for recording and reporting.
  • Full UK driving licence.
