Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with proven experience in nuclear/defence or a highly regulated industry?Are you experienced in the design and substantiation of mechanical plant and equipment.Do you have previous knowledge of technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.If the answer is yes, we would love to hear from you so please read on for further information and get in touch now to avoid missing out!The RoleLocation | Glasgow (Hybrid)Contract Estimated Duration – 12 months.This role has been deemed inside of IR35.The Mechanical Engineer will be working as a team to deliver a range of projects within the defence sector.The OpportunityYou will help provide project delivery SME input to the early development of programmes and projects. Our client also directs and advises DE&S on all infrastructure aspects of hybrid projects, including nuclear.This latest programme of work comprising of new build facilities and refurbishment to support current and future operations on a defence site over the next 15 years.Your duties and responsibilities will be * Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned project. * Manage supply chain engineering support to the project. * Support project optioneering process. * Review and accept project drawings and documentation. * Manage detailed design activities in accordance with the clients standards. * Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments. * Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent. * Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning. * Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery. * Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site. * The post holder will be expected to support delivery within their range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence. * Contribute to the effective development and delivery of training within own area of specialism.Qualifications and Experience * HNC in Mechanical Engineering. * Basic health and safety training as required for site visits. * Knowledge and experience of wide range of mechanical engineering. * Experience with the design and substantiation of mechanical plant and equipment. * Knowledge of UK statutory legislation e.g. PED, CDM, Machinery Directive. * Knowledge of British Standards. * Knowledge of current UK nuclear regulation and relevant good practice. * Experience across concept/detailed design, manufacture and construction stages in a highly regulated industry. * Experience of conducting site surveys. * Experience in project engineering. * Experience in authoring technical documentation e.g. specifications. * Experience of reviewing contractor documentation.Desirable Skills & Experience * Chartered Engineer (IMechE CEng) status. * Nuclear safety case training. * Experience in construction management. * Experience in commissioning.Get in touch nowIf you’re seeking a new challenge, where you will use your mechanical expertise to drive the development of key projects, if you’re passionate about maintaining and developing client relationships then this could be the role for you so apply now or contact Mark Wilkins via LinkedIn.Millbank Holdings Ltd is an equal opportunities employer and respects diversity.
