Platform Engineer in UK

OmniTech is working with a confidential client to source a Platform Engineer who will work collaboratively with other teams within the business to create, update and maintain well-architected and best practice standards of Cloud Infrastructure across our multi cloud strategy.

The role will help achieve high levels of system availability, security and reliability, supporting systems and responding to incidents and requests from internal teams and customers.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

• To provide engineering effort and support on one or more of our cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud).
• To provide support, maintain and upgrade our infrastructure estate, currently based on various compute and database resources across both Linux and Microsoft architectures.
• To help migrate infrastructure to more modern Cloud practices.
• To demonstrate excellent design, diagnostic and support skills in all areas of infrastructure.
• To develop and improve automation scripts, both natively in the cloud providers but also within physical server instances.
• To work within the core business support framework to resolve calls and provide technical support and guidance to customers and colleagues
• To maintain an accurate inventory of all software and infrastructure components to ensure that maintenance contracts can be renewed as and when applicable.

The person

You will have a minimum of 2 years of proven commercial experience working with cloud environments partnered with expert working knowledge of latest cloud services, technologies and their use cases.

You will need to showcase a good understanding of modern AWS / Azure Well-Architected Frameworks along with demonstrable experience with SQL, Linux and web servers (Apache, Nginx) vs knowledge of containerisation and serverless paradigms.

The right candidate will have a great attention to detail and strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse requirements and translate those into secure IT solutions using the available tools and processes.

Most importantly the ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
