Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Power Trader to join our dynamic trading team in London.

As a Power Trader, you will be responsible for executing trading strategies in the power markets, managing risk exposure, and maximizing profitability.

This role requires a deep understanding of energy markets, strong analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement trading strategies to profitably trade power products in regional and international markets.
  • Monitor market trends, news, and regulatory developments to identify trading opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Execute trades in accordance with established risk parameters and trading guidelines.
  • Analyse market data and perform quantitative analysis to optimize trading decisions and portfolio performance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with counterparties, brokers, and market participants.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including risk management, operations, and research, to support trading activities and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine trading strategies to adapt to changing market conditions and maximize profitability.

Essential Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in power trading or a related role within the energy industry.
  • Strong understanding of power markets, including supply-demand fundamentals, trading mechanisms, and price drivers.
  • Proven track record of successful trading and risk management in competitive energy markets.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in quantitative analysis and modelling.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in trading platforms and market data analysis tools.

Desired Attributes:

  • Master's degree or professional certifications in finance, economics, or quantitative disciplines.
  • Experience with algorithmic trading strategies and automated trading systems.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy markets and environmental regulations.
  • Fluency in multiple languages.
