A vacancy has arisen for a Technical Assessor based from our offices in Darlington. The role will be working for Total Recycling Services Ltd (Part of the Biffa Group)

A quick look at the role

The Technical Assessor provides technical expertise ensuring all waste enquiries received are dealt with in a timely manner whilst being professional and complying with the relevant policies and legislations.

Your core responsibilities

Technically assess all waste enquiries working to the appropriate technical guidance documentations, policies, and legislations to provide the correct classification and landfill taxation, where applicable.

Ensuring compliance with the relevant legislations and environmental permits.

Complete re-assessments of existing waste streams into sites.

Interpret and assess data (chemical analysis & MSDS) to ensure the correct waste treatment or disposal avenue is provided in accord with waste hierarchy.

Ensure all pre-acceptance information has been received for the waste stream/job before being approved on Biffa’s internal system.

All enquiries are to be responded to promptly and efficiently.

Provide technical guidance, advice and support to sites, customers, and commercial sale teams. (This could involve phone/team calls, emails, and occasional site visits)

Our essential requirements

Degree educated in a Science subject

Basic understanding of chemical analysis and analytical data

Confident with all Microsoft applications including advanced Excel

Most recently – the Company were acquired by Biffa Waste Services group – giving significant prospect for additional growth.

Our key service areas are recycling , hazardous waste , bulk tanker , general waste and industrial services - although we also provide on site facilities management to key customers . We operate our own fleet of purpose built vehicles for collections , via our own transport department in darlington. Our services are accredited to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards.

Our flexibility and ability to tailor our services to customer demand ,allows us access into most industrial areas , including manufacturing , automotive ,pharmaceutical, power generation and process , as well working alongside other waste service providers , to support major projects .
