As our business is growing and changing, we are now looking for a Trading Director who will play an essential part with the Growth through Excellence strategy. You will be responsible for the delivery of the P&L budget and management of distributed business within the division in order to drive new business and retention and delivery against income and expenditure targets.

This role is home based but will require occasional travel across all of the sites within the direct business area.

You will support the redesign and integration of all trading resources into one structure creating an effective workforce. You will have a strong focus and use your strategic thinking skills and experience to support the Managing director.

Your Accountabilities as a Trading Director will be split amongst Trading, Governance and Compliance, Stakeholder Management and Cultures and Behaviours.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain ultimate oversight of all financial performance within the division and be responsible for the development of robust sales plans to achieve New Business targets with oversight of all renewal retention metrics
  • Ensure the division has adequate systems and controls in place to manage the risks to the business
  • Working with the wider Ardonagh teams, implement governance and tracking mechanisms to ensure Ardonagh Business Standards are complied with at all times
  • Working with Compliance Team, implement governance and tracking mechanisms to ensure the escalation issues and risks in a timely manner
  • Ensure key stakeholders are informed and kept up to date with progress against plan.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across the platform, maintaining effective communication and influence to make ensure the business strategy is delivered within the business
  • Communicating change issues promptly, clearly explaining the impact upon key stakeholders and working to create a shared sense of responsibility and involvement in activities
  • Educate, advise, and support their divisional teams in regular business update meetings, deploying training resource and evaluating group and individual performance

What we’re looking for:

  • It is essential that you have a background in the Insurance Industry
  • Demonstrable experience in Senior Leadership roles within insurance and of managing other senior leaders
  • Experience in Digital insurance, Sales or Account managing.
  • Ideally you will have a strong commercial focus and significant, proven experience of managing a P&L Budget
  • A robust understanding of business processes and performance levers, who is at ease with complex and evolving concepts and change
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership of driving new ideas and innovation as well as build and maintain relationships with teams and stakeholders across the business at all levels
  • Highly collaborative approach across functions and geographies.
