The Opportunity

We are looking for a Water Quality Scientist to be part of our Regulations team.

The role will support the Water Quality Manager with ensuring water quality standards and targets are achieved across all Leep Network Water sites.

Day to day responsibilities will include management of the drinking water monitoring programme and reporting to ensure regulatory deadlines are met, with additional responsibilities associated with drinking water safety planning and regulatory risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and management of the Drinking Water Quality monitoring programme.
  • Liaison with monitoring service providers to ensure samples comply with Regulations.
  • Monthly data reporting to the Drinking Water Inspectorate. Reports prepared to strict deadlines and quality to meet regulatory expectations.
  • Response to failures of drinking water quality standards. Carry out investigations and compile reports.
  • Contribute to the development of Drinking Water Safety Plan (Reg27 risk assessment) and associated reporting (Reg28 reporting)
  • Assist with reporting of notifiable drinking water events to the DWI.
  • Assist with responses to customer contacts relating to Water Quality
  • Liaison with Local and Health bodies. Maintain records for event and annual reporting. Preparation of annual summary reports

About You

  • Knowledge of drinking water quality matters, especially the water quality regulations and guidance, water quality reporting and drinking water safety planning.
  • Experience of working in a licensed water company ideally in a water quality team.
  • Strong computer and reporting skills particularly within EXCEL. Confident handling, manipulating, and analysing large volumes of data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Able to communicate specialist information to the public and business.
  • Adaptability and an eagerness to learn
