As a Learning Support Assistant, my role was to provide students with additional assistance in their learning, whether that be through one-to-one support, group work, or in-class support. I would work closely with teachers to ensure that the needs of all students were being met and that they were making progress in their studies.
I would often work with students who required additional help in areas such as literacy, numeracy, or speech and language. To do this, I would use a range of specialist resources and techniques, as well as adapting teaching methods to suit each individual’s learning style and needs. A large part of my role also involved monitoring and recording progress, and communicating this to teachers, parents and other professionals as required.
In addition to this, I would also provide pastoral support, helping students to develop their confidence and self-esteem, and supporting them with any emotional or behavioural issues they may be experiencing.
