Business Development Manager
North & Central Region. Competitive salary + Benefits

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Business Development Manager based in Central & North Region that spans from Oxfordshire to Scotland. 

This person will focus on identifying and developing long-term business relationships with existing and new clients and their ecosystems, within the construction industry. A key aspect of this position is strategy development and the identification of opportunities that conform to the organisation’s vision and associated growth targets. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate a history of working as a strategic thinker, innovative and confident negotiator, and team player.

The successful candidate with have a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team, to play a leading role in building and executing our plan for the future, driving sales and proposition development. It will necessitate ambition, creativity, technical understanding, leadership capabilities and commercial acumen to create new revenue streams for the business.

The role

Reporting to Director of Business Development, the role of Business Development Manager – North & Central and will operate generally as follows. 

The role will fit within our strategy to become further Client Centric and mixes that with the ambition to drive our capabilities in new value propositions into client, in and around our core market sectors and new, emerging ones. 

This role will operate within the N&C Regional Leadership and develop a strong go-to-market strategy for the region. This will include:- 

• Bring HLE an exposure to new and existing clients that operate in the chosen core and emerging market sectors, specifically driving holistic solutions to client problems, with a focus on NZC. 
• Leveraging relationships with cross related clients, linking their own market sectors challenges to our HLE capability set. 
• Prepare an approach that naturally forms a multi-discipline value to clients, and effectively balances the needs of solving a technical problem and adding commercial value. 
• Working closely with marketing, help create value propositions from a kit of parts from the Product and Innovation (P&I) group.
• To bring client insights into HLE and new VPs out. 
• Drive excellence in client management, promotes firmwide transparency and comfortably delivers their success through others.
• Working to challenge the norm, help to set goals / develops plans for business & revenue growth around sector structure and net zero carbon strategies (with a net new capabilities / pipeline in new markets). 
• Coach, develop and give a layer of sales governance across the region.
What we are looking for

• High knowledge and experience of the UK construction industry with a sales, client and consultancy market-facing track record.
• Solution sales capability – engaging clients on their business issues and co-developing solutions that drive client benefit and commercial returns.
• Successfully operating within a target-driven environment, with a consistent track record of achieving or exceeding targets. Authoring compelling bids and pitching to clients with a track record of high success rate.
• Proven ability in managing a pipeline, with solid account planning, timely reporting, and CRM.
• Strategic thinking and an ability to identify and exploit competitive advantage.
• An ability to analyse markets, understand client needs and convert opportunities into compelling value propositions.
• Experience of building effective networks, both internally and externally. Ability to access and influence at all levels with ease, developing strategic relationships and exploring ways to add significant value to all sides.
• Confident within the digital / data / technology revolution. 
• Team player, comfortable with delivering success through others.
