Legal Counsel in Manchester

Our client is an established real estate company that is strengthening its foothold across the UK and Europe in the multi-let industrial arena (MLI) – a rapidly growing sector of the market.

They invest in a diversified portfolio of UK MLI with a market-leading tech platform to support the ongoing digitization of the real estate sector.

Now private equity backed as of January 2024, our client is in growth mode and in the process of integrating another well-known logistics company into its business.

In line with this growth, we are carrying out a search to find a junior-mid level lawyer with a construction/development/real estate skill-set to be the first legal hire for their office in Stockport, South Manchester.

What will the role involve:

• you will shepherd the business as it grows and carry out a broad legal role working closely with the other teams based in Birmingham and London;
• providing legal support to the development and construction team, asset and property management teams, as well as sales and marketing, and technology teams;
• focusing on streamlining all internal legal processes and assisting with the automation of contracts and legal processes; a willingness to work with new technologies to improve operational efficiency;
• working closely with the Head of Legal and other members of the Legal function and external advisers to ensure the smooth running of the group activities.
• assisting with any special transactional activity – including, without limitation, acquisitions, refinancings, restructurings;
• providing high-quality support to the rest of the business on contracting with suppliers and service providers and diligence of partners including reviewing/negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts (supplier contracts, IT and SaaS agreements, professional services agreements, etc.).

What skill-sets are we looking for?

• a qualified construction/development/real estate lawyer with solid experience in property development and construction;
• minimum of 2 years’ PQE;
• you may come from one of the top real estate law firms, or you may already be in-house in a real estate or related company;
• good drafting skills, technically sound but with a strong commercial awareness;
• the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and juggle priorities effectively;
• excellent communication and strong project management and interpersonal skills, be a team player;
• strong attention to detail and ability to present information clearly, logically and accurately to non-lawyers.

This is a newly created role thereby giving the right candidate the opportunity to really make their mark and carve out the role; the role will be broad in scope and dynamic in nature.

You must have a ‘can do’ attitude and not be afraid of rolling up your sleeves and getting involved in a diverse array of legal work.
