Our client is a private investments office/wealth manager, one that invests for their clients on a long-term basis across both public and private asset classes, offering a truly focused approach to wealth management.

The Founders have successfully built similar businesses before; this an early growth business that is well capitalised and debt-free, and as part of its growth strategy is now looking for a mid-senior level lawyer to join their team.

In this role you will report directly to the Head of Legal and Compliance.

This is a key hire and would suit someone looking for a long-term role, giving them the opportunity to grow with the business over the coming years.

What will the role involve?

  • To provide general legal assistance and advice on a invvariety of legal and regulatory issues (MiFID, AIFMD, UCITS, GDPR) relevant to the business;
  • Negotiate and review of various agreements for the wealth management business, i.e. confidentiality agreements, custody agreements, side letters, investment management agreements, advisory agreements, HR contracts;
  • Structure, launch and maintain alternative investment funds (Irish/Lux based AIF / UCITS);
  • Structure, launch and maintain private equity co-investment access vehicles;
  • Advise on global marketing restrictions to enable the firm to conduct its activities in accordance with local rules and regulations.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Qualified Solicitor 4+ years ideally with some in-house experience;
  • Experience in investment management/funds (including prior in-house experience);
  • Regulatory/compliance experience and strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook;
  • Understanding of investment fund structures (in particular private equity) and other investment products (AIFs and UCITS);
  • In-house experience in working in an Asset Manager/Fund, Family Office/Wealth Manager or Private Equity house;

What softer skills are we looking for?

  • A self-starter, a problem-solver and someone who is highly organised;
  • As this is a small close-knit business, it requires someone with a high EQ who can sensitively deal with staff at all levels from the support staff to the Founders;
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal);
  • Experienced negotiator.

This is a broad, diverse legal role; for the right person this role allows you to ‘make your mark’ and offers a huge amount of career development and prospects.

Depending on the candidate, it can be offered on a part-time (circa 4 days per week) or full-time basis, with flexibility in working hours and hybrid working arrangements.

A competitive base salary is on offer, along with an annual discretionary bonus and a solid benefits package (pension, life/medical/travel insurance etc.
