Overview:
HENI is an ArtTech business that has developed several platforms that enable artists to share work with the world.
We have a history in the physical art world and have developed platforms that focus on trading art, art education, art production and publishing.
More recently we have moved into the digital art world and have developed an art news channel as well as our own NFT platform.
The Role
HENI is growing rapidly and we have a new role for a talented maker and picture framer to join our picture framing team.
This is a full-time permanent role, based in South East London.
The standard hours will be 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (some flexibility required).
Responsibilities include:
- Working cooperatively as part of a small team within a larger organisation.
- Taking and understanding oral and written instructions from management.
- Cutting picture frame moulding using a variety of methods including a Morso and a Cassese double mitre saw
- Using woodworking equipment (including power planer, jointer, routers and table saw) safely and with a high degree of competency.
- Joining picture frame moulding using traditional methods and newer methods knowledge of the Hoffman system is a plus.
- Sanding of picture frames to a high finish using festool sanders and extractor
- Frame finishing using Stains, waxes and more.
- Cutting board stock include Plywood, backing boards, mount board and both Acrylic and glass.
- Cleaning all types of glazing (including Optium museum acrylic and Museum glass) using the correct methods.
- Mounting a variety of artworks using appropriate techniques including Japanese paper tabs and Wheat starch paste.
- Filleting frames using paper wrapped wood as well as mountboard fillets.
- Fitting of artwork into frames and final quality control before work goes to client.
The Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Ideally a few years’ experience picture framing but we will also consider a background in woodworking, cabinetry, joinery etc.
- Extensive production experience.
- A studio framing mindset with the ability to produce larger quantities while maintaining the highest standards.
- Will have a wide variety of woodworking/making and picture framing skills developed to a high degree.
- Ability to work with and thrive with shifting priorities and still maintain a high quality of work.
- Must be able to innately understand the quality required.
- Display a high level of discretion.
