Due to succession planning, this business is now looking to recruit a Production Manager to work in a days-based role managing a production team of 60 staff across a 2-shift operation.

The role of the Production Manager will be as follows:
- A Hands-on Production Manager who will lead a team of circa 60 production manufacturing staff
- Alongside HR, you will manage all HR-related activities – recruitment, 1-2-1’s, appraisals, development plans, training, performance management and disciplinaries
- The Production Manager will be taking responsibility for all production activities across a 2-shift system
- Managing the team and coordinating all activities across production, production planning, quality, maintenance, and logistics
- Lead all daily and weekly production meetings, Gemba walks and report back to the Plant Manager
- Review the previous day's performance, forward planning and mitigating any risks that could impact production or delivery to customers such as material shortages or machine downtime
- To manage and lead the team on the shop floor providing lots of support, mentoring and guidance
- Ensure production KPIs and production output are met/exceeded – SQDCP
- Drive a lean and continuous improvement culture within the department and achieve plant improvement targets
- Ensure Health & Safety is at the forefront of business activities – LTA and RIDDORS
- Due to the stringent manufacturing processes and requirements of the customer, you will be heavily involved in quality manufacturing - Review production issues, ensure corrective measures and the correct actions are taken using investigation tools such as Pareto, 8D, 5 Why etc
- The utilisation of the company ERP system (SAP) – training provided
The ideal Production Manager will have a combination of the following:
- An experienced Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or a Shift Leader looking to take their first step into Production Management
- A proven track record in leading and managing production teams
- The ideal Production Manager will have worked in some form of volume/serial production manufacturing environment where there is an emphasis on engineered products
- A suitable engineering qualification is highly desirable – degree preferred
- A demonstrable track record in leading lean, continuous improvement, quality and Health & Safety initiatives and a track record of using the associated tools for each topic
- Attention to detail, meticulous planning and people-centric will be key skills required for this role
