WasteRecruit have been retained by a leading environmental services provider to recruit a Senior Site Chemist. Based at the company’s oil/water treatment site and waste transfer station in the North West, your main duties will include:
* Ensuring site permit and discharge consent conditions regarding waste inputs/outputs and treatment methods are adhered to.
* Ensuring site H&S and environmental systems are adhered to.
* Ensuring that all records are accurate and kept up to date.
* Ensuring effective operation of a stock system for waste stored on site.
* Ensuring effective operation of a system for the maintenance of the laboratory and plant equipment is in accordance with the manufacturer guidelines and relevant legislation.
* Working closely with site operations/customer services and sales.
* Maintaining and updating local plant and laboratory procedures.
* Maintaining and updating plant and laboratory risk assessments.
* Being “profit responsible” which may include keeping and providing information on waste treatment costs, operational costs etc.
* Ensuring all equipment is calibrated as per company standards.
* Ensuring housekeeping standards of laboratory and plant are kept to a high standard.
* Supervising any allocated employees ensuring they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
Candidate requirements:
* Educated to degree level in chemistry or related discipline.
* Numerate and computer literate.
* Good knowledge of H&S legislation including risk & COSSH Assessments.
* Good knowledge of Environmental legislation including environmental auditing / monitoring of site processes.
* Ideally possess relevant CoTC or working towards this qualification.
* Working knowledge of waste industry.
* Team player.
* Good communication skills.
There is the potential for this role to quickly transition into site management for the right candidate.
